So what makes these olives so special?? Well the first reason that I picked them is that they are already pitted so I do not have to deal with that. The Mezzetta Olives that I found at my local store all had the pits in them except for this brand and it was honestly just easier and these taste a whole lot better than the ones that do have the pits in them. So about the Kalamata Olives : Kalamata Olives (also spelled Calamata and often referred to simply as “Greek olives”) are grown in Kalamata, Greece and the surrounding countryside. They are unique and celebrated among olives for their distinctive almond shape, meaty texture and dark aubergine color. Once harvested, Kalamatas are split or cracked to allow the red wine vinegar and herbs in the brine to fully permeate the flesh. Oh my god!! These things are so delicious. I wont even lie. I normally will not eat olives. I just can’t get over the taste but I love Greek Olives and the Kalamata Olives are just perfect.
One of my most favorite meals is a Chicken Spaghetti. Now I bet you are asking.. um… ok now how can you involve Mezzetta Olives into it. I love to just snack on olives but I have found a way to involve my favorite olives into my favorite dish. Check out how I can add my favorite snack into my favorite dinner!!
Chicken Spaghetti with Mezzetta Olives
1 Lb chicken breast (cooked and shredded)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 8 oz thing of cream cheese
1 cup of your favorite shredded cheese ( I love sharp for this recipe)
1 8 oz pack of cooked spaghetti noodles.
6 to 8 Mezzetta Olives Kalamata, sliced and diced, per bowl.
Combine all the ingredients into the slow cooker, except the noodles and Mezzetta Olives, and cook on low for about 3 hours. Then add in the noodles for about 30 minutes then finally top off your bowl with grated parmesan and sliced Mezzetta Olives and Voila. You have a delicious dish.
