“Diono has compensated me for this post in the form of a product. All opinions are mine and mine alone.”
As a mom, it is my job to protect my kids and keep them healthy. I know that I can’t shield them from everything in life, but there are things I can do to keep them as safe as possible including choosing the right car seat. I’ve hearing more and more about Diono recently and I was thrilled when they gave me the opportunity to review their radian rXT All-in-One Convertible Car Seat. I was eager to find out what everyone was raving about.
Diono is an award-winning company committed to offering innovative products that keep children safe. Their flagship product, the radian rXT convertible car seat, provides children unmatched safety and comfort as they grow. Since it goes from rear-facing to forward-facing to high-back booster, it is the only car seat you will ever need. The car seat can be used for rear-facing children 4-45 pounds and forward-facing children 20-65 pounds. It also converts into a booster seat for children between 50-120 pounds and up to 57″ tall. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends rear-facing until a child is at least 2. To date, 9 states have also passed laws requiring children to remain rear-facing until the age 2. My littlest turned two literally days before the car seat arrived so we decided it was the perfect time to transition to forward-facing.
The radian rXT is engineered with a steel alloy frame wrapped in thick engineered plastic. It also has aluminum reinforced sidewalls and energy-absorbing EPS foam for the ultimate in protection. As soon as I unboxed the car seat, I could tell it was built solid. It is a bit on the heavy-side, but the strength and sturdiness is more important than the weight.
Safety is my number one priority when it comes to choosing the right car seat, but comfort is a close second. If my little one is uncomfortable, nobody in the car is going to enjoy the ride. Fortunately, she seems pretty comfy in the Radian rXT thanks to the plush feel, soft fabric, and padded harness. The low profile sides are also nice because it makes it easier to get her in and out.
Other Diono radian rXT features include:
- Plush interlock knit fabric in several color choices
- Fits 3-across in most mid-size vehicles
- Folds flat for travel
- Low-sitting profile
- Angled cup holder
- Cover is machine washable
- Infant body support cushions and memory foam
- Safe Stop® energy absorbing harness
- 12-position adjustable headrest
- 5 shoulder and 3 buckle positions
- Rear-facing tether capability
- Expandable sides and long seat bottom for leg support
- Rubber bottom grips for no-slip installation
- FAA certified
- 10 year life from the date of purchase
We are very satisfied with the Diono radian rXT convertible car seat and I wish we would have had it while she was an infant. It has a very sleek, stylish design and it is available in several color choices. The only thing issue I found is that in the rear-facing position, I would have to move my seat up too far to drive comfortably. After doing some research however, I found Diono offers an angle-adjuster to solve this issue.
If you have multiple children in car seats, this model is an excellent choice since the narrow design lets you fit three across in most mid-size SUVs! I will definitely continue counting on Diono to keep my little one safe in the car. If you need help installing your car seat, you can check out these videos.
