It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. This is the first year I am going to be doing the elf on the shelf with my girls and I couldn’t be more excited. I have had the opportunity to work with Wende over at The Visiting Elf on Etsy . In her shop she creates stamps that have little feet on the bottom. Then you are able to use corn starch or baking soda and give your house the illusion it has been visited by an elf.

When I received my package I couldn’t wait to open it. The stamps come in a velvet red bag with a glitzy Christmas tree on the front. Each set of stamps are handmade. In my package was instructions on how to create the elf prints, but Wende also sent over a little story. I didn’t want to wait until Christmas, so we decided to let Santa’s main elf come visit the girls to see if they were being good or bad. We have a fireplace in our den, and I knew it would be perfect. I took flour, since I didn’t have any corn starch or baking powder, it still worked just as great, and I had no problem vacuuming it up. I made a trail of foot prints going from the fire-place to the tile in the kitchen, after I sprinkled “fireplace dust” (flour) from there to the girls bedroom. Then I went back to the carpet in the den and made another trail of footprints back to the fireplace. The elf was messy, and left the fireplace open and he left my girls a letter. He left a story as well as a note. The story he left was about himself, and how he became a Visiting Elf, it’s the story shop owner, Wende Lavinder, wrote. He let the girls know he was very proud of them, and they were being very good for mommy and daddy. He also told them he would be sending one of his other visiting elf friends (Elfie, the elf on the shelf) to come and remind them to be extra good. She would be visiting us from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but not to be sad because he would be coming back with Santa on Christmas Eve to deliver presents, and he would take Elfie back to the North Pole with them.

The smile on my girls faces were priceless. They couldn’t believe a real elf had been in their house and visited them. Aubreigh can’t wait for Elfie to come visit. She said next time we have to leave the visiting elf out some milk and cookies.

If you want to purchase your own set of Elf Footprint Stamps you can visit The Visiting Elf Etsy shop. Each set is only $15. The smile I got on my girls face and the excitement they get thinking about Christmas and Santa, I would have paid double that! I also love helping out small businesses at Christmas time, and your children will love this!

This is so adorable. Believe it or not I hadn’t even heard of the story of the Elf on a Shelf until I joined facebook. This is a great tradition to start with any family. The holidays are all about family and memories and with this you can’t go wrong! I love the review!!
