If you have ever dealt with a toddler that refuses to go to sleep at night or wakes up hours before the sun, you know how exhausting it is. This is my life right now since I just cannot seem to get my littlest to stick to a sleep schedule. I spent hours on the Internet trying to find a solution, but when nothing seemed to work, I finally became frustrated and gave up. Then White Dove Innovations offered to send me a My Tot Clock to review and I jumped at the chance.
My Tot Clock is an innovative, all-in-one clock designed to help children ages 2+ sleep better at night. It uses colors to help teach children when to go to sleep and when to wake up . The clock is loaded with other features such as discipline and encouragement timers to help tots establish healthy routines. It also plays bedtime stories, lullabies, wake music, and white noise.
My Tot Clock has five levels of illumination:
- Blue — Bedtime
- Yellow — Wake time
- Light blue — Nap time
- Green — Encouragement
- Red — Timeout
Additional My Tot Clock features:
- Secret key code to manually start sleep and wake routines
- White noise plays all night if desired
- Volume adjustment settings
- Runs on AC power or batteries
- Child-friendly handle
- Energy saver mode
- Analog and digital clock
- Parental controls hidden behind faceplate
Pamela Gonzalez, president of White Dove innovations, invented My Tot Clock and it is absolutely ingenious. It creates a color representation for little one’s that have no real concept of time. It is very simple to set up and use. You simply set the desired bedtime and each day at that time, the clock lights up blue. It stays blue until your designated wake up time and at that point, it turns yellow. This lets toddlers know it is time to wake up. It also has the same feature (with different colors) for nap time, encouragement, and timeout, but you choose how long it stays lit up. We frequently use the encouragement setting quiet time for the littlest and reading time for the boys. This keeps the kids from asking every two minutes whether their time is up.
For the first few days, we had to show Cali the clock and remind her that blue means bedtime and yellow means time to wake up. She is starting to get the hang of it though and in the evening after bath time, she will run into her room to check the clock. Like most toddlers, mine loves to push buttons, but I don’t have to worry about her messing up the settings since the controls are behind the faceplate. You can even pick up different faceplates for the New My Tot Clock to change up the look.
We love our My Tot Clock and we use so many of its features almost daily. Cali has become pretty possessive of it and definitely does not like her brothers touching it. I sure wish this was around when my older two were toddlers. You can pick your own clock on the My Tot Clock website or on Amazon.
