Despicable Me came out a few years ago and it has been a favorite in my family for years now. I remember laughing as much as my kids did at those silly little Minions. Then Despicable Me 2 came out and we all piled in the car to go see it in the theaters. The Minions provided tons of laughs and we fell in love with them. Now, The Minions are in a movie all of their own that will be coming to theaters this summer! We can not wait to see them and are counting down the days. To help get kids ready for The Minions big debut, Mott’s has come out with limited time Minion packaged goodies plus a new flavor (Tropical BA-NA-NA).
I wanted to do a fun craft with the kids, so I visited my local Food Lion to pick up Mott’s Applesauce and Mott’s Juice Bottle. I was very surprised when I got there and saw how many flavors were offered in each one. As soon as I saw it I knew the perfect craft I wanted to make with my kids. We decided to make Minions using our favorite flavors in juice and applesauce. My oldest picked out Apple White Grape Juice and my youngest picked out Classic Applesauce. One reason I picked Mott’s for my craft over any other brand is because their products contain no artificial sweeteners, gluten-free and an excellent source of Vitamin C. Also, from 6/17 – 6/30 when you purchase any (2) Mott’s 64oz or 6 pack Juice Products you will get a FREE 6-pack of Mott’s Applesauce!! How much better of a deal could it be!
For this craft you will need:
8 oz bottles of Mott’s 100% Juice in your choice of flavor
Applesauce in your choice of flavor
1 piece of Yellow Construction Paper
1 piece of Black Construction Paper
1 piece of Blue Construction Paper
1 piece of White Printer Paper
Glue Stick / Tape
Step 1. Take the wrapper of off the juice bottle and lay it over the yellow construction paper. This will be the body of the Juice Minion. Cut it to the exact size of the wrapper. Using a glue stick or tape, secure it around the bottle. You can also use hot glue, but I picked glue stick and tape so it could be a craft my kids could do.
Step 2: Take the black construction paper and cut out the goggle straps. I made them about a fourth of an inch wide. I also cut the paper long ways and just trimmed what I didn’t need. Then take the black paper and cut the goggles. I used a quarter to trace them and then cut them out. If you have an inch hole punch you can also use that. Then take the white paper and cut circles for the eyes. I used nickels to trace. Then draw tiny eyes on the white paper using a crayon or marker. Once you are finished with those, cut out tiny boomerang shapes which will be used for the clothes for the Minion.
Step 3: Start assembling your Minion. There really is not any right or wrong way. Got the bottle you would place the yellow around the bottle, then the goggle strap, then the goggle, their eyes, then their clothes. For the applesauce you would first place the goggle strap, then the goggles, and finally their eyes. For the mouths just use a marker or a pen and draw a smiley face.
It is that simple!! Such a fun craft that kids are able to do and use healthy products! Remember to catch Minions at theaters this summer!! But for the mean time, check out these Fun Games from Mott’s!
