The Spice Lab is located in Pompano Beach, Florida. This family owned business has been providing you with the perfect salts since 2009. Brett Cramer, a technology entrepreneur, handcrafted a wooden base out of scrap lumber which would then hold little test tubes that would be filled with exotic sea salts from all around the world. Jennifer, his wife and interior designer, decided that her husbands creation would be the perfect gourmet gift business. The Spice Lab has earned many different awards including The Gourmet Retailer’s Editors’ Choice Award.
Sweet Southern Lovin had the opportunity to work with The Spice Lab. I was looking around online and found this awesome company. I didn’t know there were so many different type of sea salts. I received an Hawaiian Aloha Salt Collection with 4 tubes. The salts that was included are: No. 56 Hawaiian Pink Passion (Fine) Sea Salt, No. 12 Hawaiian Red Alaea (Fine) Sea Salt, No. 58 Hawaiian Bamboo Jade Sea Salt (Fine) Sea Salt, and No. 61 Hawaiian Black Lava (Kilauea) (Fine) Sea Salt. I also received a few little sampler packs of different salts. I couldn’t wait to try all of these different ones out. It came with a list that showed what all I could use each salt with to give the salt the most flavor. The salts come in a Pyrex test tube with an all natural cork stoppers. The test tubs will contain .7 to 1.3 OZ of salt depending on how dense the salt is. The first salt I tried was the Black Lava Salt. It mentioned that it was good on pork so I coated a pork loin down with my regular seasonings but replaced the regular salt with the Black Lava Salt and the pork ended up tasting so great and the salt gave it that extra umph. You can purchase this collection for $29.95. This is the perfect gift for anyone who loves to cook and wants to add a little gourmet into their life.
