Every Veteran’s day I have someone to be very thankful for and to celebrate his service. My grandfather was a proud member of the Army National Guard and served his time so well and made me so proud.

My Grandfather, in the Army National Guard.

My grandfather was the most important man in my life and even to this day he still is. He passed away 6 years ago due to Leukemia, but he was still fighting until his very last breath, which is part of the famous slogan, being army strong. It takes a special breed of “man” to be considered a man, but it takes an even more special breed of man to be part of our wonderful military service.

My grandfather would do everything for me. I grew up without a dad, and to tell you just how amazing of a man this is, he took care of me since I could remember. He would show up at school for all of my donuts for dad, for any sort of school activity. He was a heating and air conditioning teacher at a local college and I remember students coming up and telling me how lucky I was to have this man in my life, and I could do was agree. I remember sitting around late at night, not wanting to leave my grandfather’s side, because he told stories so well. I still remember this story he told me about having to cook for the guys on the boat, and how most of them ended up sick. When Veteran’s day would roll around, my grandfather would be so proud and would visit the Veteran’s Day programs that were going on at my school. In turn, I would do anything for him and whatever I could to make him happy. Even though he is gone, I still help Veteran’s any way I can. One of my most favorite things happens at your local Great Clips!!
